When Does Google Visit New Pages? 3 Out of 1,146

On a site we operate, Googlebot barely visited. Of 1,146 newly created pages added to the sitemap, AI crawlers visited 1,127 (98.3%), while Googlebot visited 3 (0.3%) (as of 2026-08-10).
Is Google not crawling the site at all?
No. During the same period, Googlebot made 32,977 visits to 1,887 existing pages. It keeps visiting the site. It just isn't looking at the new pages.
More striking is the difference between Google's own crawlers. Another Google crawler, GoogleOther, visited 24.7% of the new pages. Its median time to reach them was 3.4 days, the fastest of the bots measured. Infrastructure from the same company was visiting, but the crawler responsible for search indexing was not.
How quickly do AI crawlers arrive?
It varies by bot. ClaudeBot visited 86.6% of the pages, with a median time of 10.4 days. OAI-SearchBot visited 81.1% in 5.4 days, while GPTBot visited 44.1% in 9.1 days.
This means new content reached AI crawlers sooner and more widely than it reached the search crawler. The result does not fit the view that GEO is an extension of search.
How should these numbers be interpreted?
These are observations, not evidence of causation. The data does not explain why Google isn't visiting. There are several possible explanations, including site assessment, crawl budget, and indexing suppression. We did not determine which was responsible.
The study covered one dermatology information site we operate, Kdermzip (kdermzip.com). Its indexing was already in poor shape, so these results should not be read as typical Google crawler behavior across websites. Instead, the figures come closer to showing what that poor state actually involved. Having many unindexed pages may not mean Google reviewed and excluded them. For a substantial share, it may mean Google never even visited. We do not guarantee indexing or rankings.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Q. How can we check whether this is happening on our site?
Count Googlebot requests to newly created URLs in your server or CDN logs. Logs provide an answer before Search Console's indexing status does.
Q. What changes if AI crawlers visit new pages first?
New content could become material for AI answers before it appears in Google search results. On this site, AI crawlers visited 98.3% of new pages, while Googlebot visited 0.3% (as of 2026-08-10).
